US, Iran Move Toward Peace Talks as Lebanon Ceasefire Takes Hold

Senior American and Iranian diplomats are reportedly heading to Switzerland in a renewed effort to advance peace negotiations amid recent tensions in the Middle East.

According to diplomatic sources, an initial round of talks involving US Vice President JD Vance was delayed as hostilities continued in Lebanon. However, following the announcement of a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah on Friday, diplomatic efforts appear to be back on track.

US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff is reportedly traveling to Switzerland to restart the peace process and facilitate discussions aimed at reducing regional tensions.

The diplomatic developments come as Lebanese media reported fresh Israeli airstrikes across parts of Lebanon, with multiple casualties reported despite growing international calls for de-escalation.

Earlier on Friday, Israel and Hezbollah announced a ceasefire agreement, raising hopes that the truce could pave the way for broader diplomatic engagement involving regional and international stakeholders.
