Kurdistan Region Launches National Anti-Narcotics Campaign Under PM Barzani’s Supervision

Erbil, Kurdistan Region – Under the direct supervision of Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, the Barzani Charity Foundation officially launched a large-scale national campaign on Thursday to combat the growing threat of narcotics in Kurdish society.

Titled “Together Towards a Strong and Healthy Society,” the initiative was unveiled at 10:00 a.m. in a high-profile event attended by senior government officials, including Interior Minister Rebar Ahmed, Education Minister Alan Hama Saeed, and Health Minister Dr. Saman Barzinji. The campaign aims to strengthen prevention, enforcement, rehabilitation, and public awareness efforts against drug abuse.

The campaign brings together key ministries and institutions in a coordinated strategy to tackle drug-related challenges. As part of the initiative, public panels will be held featuring experts discussing root causes, prevention methods, and reintegration programs for affected individuals.

Prime Minister Barzani’s direct involvement underscores the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) commitment to treating drug abuse as both a public health crisis and a threat to social stability. The Barzani Charity Foundation, known for its humanitarian work, will lead efforts in raising awareness, particularly among youth, while expanding rehabilitation services.

The campaign reflects the KRG’s broader vision to safeguard future generations, uphold the rule of law, and maintain the Kurdistan Region’s stability amid regional challenges. PM Barzani emphasized the importance of a united societal effort to eliminate narcotics and promote a healthy, prosperous community.

This initiative marks a significant step in the region’s fight against drug proliferation, combining policy enforcement with community engagement to ensure long-term success.
