On Thursday, Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani announced that his government's program aims to address the concerns of Kurdistan farmers.

Masrour Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, laid the foundation stone for an agricultural and industrial factory project in Rovia in the town of Bardarash in Dohuk Governorate.

The plant called Farm Factory will be opened by KH Kurdistan-Netherlands CO at a cost of $10 million.

"Farmers who grow potatoes or wheat need to be sure that their products are safe," Masrour Barzani, speaking at the plant's groundbreaking ceremony, said in a statement.

Dear friends

I am pleased to be here to lay the foundation stone for a farmers' factory for agricultural products and to establish a factory to improve farmers' productivity in the Kurdistan Region. Such projects are very important and strategic to support the agricultural sector and economic development in the Kurdistan Region.

Many thanks to the executive company that started implementing this project. The Dutch support for this project is commendable.

During our visit to the Netherlands and meeting with the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, we expressed our support for the economic reform and development program of the Kurdistan Regional Government, and expressed our readiness to support and contribute to the development of agriculture and all economic sectors in the region. I thank the Kingdom of the Netherlands for its support in the fight against ISIS, the support of the Peshmerga and the reforms of the Ministry of Peshmerga.

We know that the agricultural sector is one of the pillars of the economic development of any country. Each project will be the basis for creating many others. This project, as we heard, will create thousands of job opportunities, and it is a great support for us to rely on, and we no longer have to import foreign products from Kurdistan, and it is a great support for the industrial and commercial sector to move forward.

Farmers who grow potatoes or wheat need to be sure that their products are safe. The government's program aims to ensure that farmers do not have to worry about taking care of their products and varieties, nor need to worry about regeneration. Thank God there is an opportunity and the Ministry of Agriculture is gratefully working on it.

My request to our dear farmers is to pay attention to the type of their product, we want Kurdistan to be known for the type and taste of its products and to be a brand for Kurdistan products sold abroad.

I urge farmers once again to ensure that the government will support the protection and restoration of their produce. We do our best not to be obligated to import a homemade product. The government is also responsible for setting prices for all citizens.

It is worth mentioning here that the agreement reached between the Kurdistan Region and Iraq to send the budget of the Kurdistan Region, would be a good step to strengthen the economy of Kurdistan and the salaries of its employees. The government will continue to develop the economy of the people of Kurdistan.

I think that there is a situation in Kurdistan in which the economic situation is improving, and I hope that the Iraqi government will move towards the Kurdistan Region and open the Iraqi market. What we achieve in the Kurdistan Region will benefit all the Iraqi people.

Congratulations again and rest assured that the KRG has its promise and we will create jobs with the support of our friends. You see, thousands of jobs are being created for our people today.
