Twin Bomb Blasts Kill, Wound 15 Hashd al-Shaabi Militiamen in Iraq
ERBIL - At least 15 members of the Hashd al-Shaabi, including a commander, were either killed or wounded in a twin roadside bomb attacks in northern Baghdad on Thursday afternoon, a security official said.

"A Hashd al-Shaabi convoy was struck by two roadside bombs around noon, while heading to conduct a search campaign in al-Jazira area near the city of Samarra, some 120 km north of the Iraqi capital Baghdad, killing eight Hashd Shaabi members and wounding seven others," Captain Hussam al-Jubouri from Samara Operations Command told Xinhua.

Another source said that one of the killed was the commander of the militiamen, Hussein Attia, who participated in the fight against the Islamic State (IS) in Iraq.

The targeted convoy belonged to Saraya al-Salam paramilitary force, led by Shi'ite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr.
