Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani received Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakim, head of the National Wisdom Movement, along with his accompanying delegation, for talks on Iraq’s political and regional developments.

The meeting focused on the latest situation in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, with both sides stressing the importance of continued efforts to strengthen relations between Erbil and Baghdad.

Barzani and Al-Hakim emphasized the need to resolve outstanding issues between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government through dialogue, mutual understanding and constructive engagement.

They also reaffirmed their support for the federal government in carrying out its constitutional responsibilities and advancing its political and administrative agenda.

The two sides further exchanged views on the regional situation and recent developments, discussing their potential implications for Iraq and the wider region.

The meeting comes as Erbil and Baghdad continue efforts to address a number of longstanding political, administrative and financial issues between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government.
