President Barzani Receives Russian Ambassador, Discusses Regional Developments and Bilateral Relations
President Masoud Barzani received the Russian Ambassador to Iraq, Elbrus Kutrashev, on Monday in Pirmam to discuss the latest political and security developments in the region, as well as relations between the Kurdistan Region and Russia.
The meeting was attended by Maxim Rubin, Russia’s Consul General in Erbil. Discussions focused on the evolving political situation in the Middle East and the impact of recent regional tensions and conflicts.
During the meeting, Ambassador Kutrashev praised the leadership of the Kurdistan Region for its commitment to restraint and dialogue amid the recent wars and escalating tensions in the region. He commended the Kurdistan Region’s approach to maintaining stability during a period of uncertainty and conflict.
The two sides also exchanged views on developments in Syria and reviewed relations between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and Iraq’s new federal government. In addition, they discussed the political process within the Kurdistan Region and the importance of continued cooperation among political actors.
Both sides emphasized the need to further strengthen ties between the Kurdistan Region and the Russian Federation, highlighting the importance of political dialogue and mutual cooperation in promoting regional stability and shared interests.
