President Masoud Barzani received a delegation from the Canada–Kurdistan Friendship Group in the Canadian Parliament today, Monday, June 22, 2026, in Pirmam.

The delegation included Mr. Ziad Aboultaif, Member of the Canadian Parliament, and Mr. Ahmed Hussen, Member of the Canadian Parliament and former Minister of International Development in the Canadian government.

During the meeting, the visiting delegation expressed its pleasure at meeting President Barzani, emphasizing the just cause of the people of Kurdistan. The delegation also praised the struggle and sacrifices of the Kurdish people and the heroism of the Peshmerga in the war against ISIS terrorists.

Furthermore, the delegation provided an overview of the activities and initiatives of the Canada–Kurdistan Friendship Group in the Canadian Parliament, its coordination with the Kurdish Community Association, and the association’s role in supporting the cause of the people of Kurdistan.

The delegation also expressed its desire to expand friendship and relations between the Kurdistan Region and Canada, particularly in the fields of economy and technology.

For his part, President Barzani expressed his gratitude for the support and assistance provided by Canada, both its government and people, to the people of Kurdistan and the Peshmerga throughout various stages, especially during the war against ISIS terrorists.

President Barzani also reaffirmed his support for strengthening the bonds of friendship and relations between the peoples of Kurdistan and Canada, while presenting his views and clarifications on this matter.
