SDF, Russia Agree to Hand Over Kobani to Syrian Regime
ERBIL - After the disappointment in the Trump administration to help them against the Turkish incursion into the area, the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) reached an agreement with Russia to hand over Kobani to the Syrian regime, as Turkey has intensified the bombardments in the region.

After Washington announced last week that the US forces would withdraw from northeastern Syria, Turkey began an offensive against the Kurdish forces in the area, as a result of which, scores of civilians have so far been killed, while over 100,000 others were displaced.

The SDF slammed the US' decision and blamed Washington for leaving them "to be slaughtered by Turkey."

Meanwhile, the US President Donald Trump has repeatedly made it clear that he would not get involved in the war between the Kurdish forces and Turkey.

Earlier on Saturday, reports cited Salih Muslim, former co-president of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD), as warning that the Kurdish forces would reach an agreement with Russia and Syria to protect them if the US forces keep refusing to do so.

US Secretary of Defense Mike Esper said on Sunday that they were aware of the reports that the Kurdish forces in Syria are considering an agreement with Damascus and Moscow to deploy forces and protect them against the Turkish army and Ankara-backed Syrian rebels.

According to a Kurdish official in Syria, the US had not informed the SDF of the withdrawal beforehand.
