UNSC to Convene on Turkish Incursion into Syria
ERBIL - The United Nations Security Council is expected to hold a meeting to discuss the Turkish operation in northeastern Syria against the Kurdish forces, which was started on Wednesday afternoon.

The UNSC's meeting is said to be held behind closed-doors on Thursday, The Jerusalem Post cited diplomats, after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced his country's operation in Syria.

The meeting was called by the European countries, including the UK, France, Germany, Belgium, and Poland, according to the report.

A number of US officials, including senators, have condemned Turkey's Wednesday move, some of whom have warned of bipartisan sanctions on Ankara if it attacks the Kurdish fighters in Syria.

A couple of civilians have reportedly been killed as a result of the military campaign so far.
