Iran Sentences Kurdish Woman to Prison over Alleged Political Activities
Hengaw Organization for Human Rights reported that the Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj charged “Iran Rahpeikar” with “compliance with the Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK)”.
PJAK is a Kurdish armed group operating under the umbrella of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in Iran.
Rahpeikar was arrested by the Iranian intelligence service on 14th May after she returned from the Kurdistan Region, Hengaw said. Ever since, she has been in custody in the central prison of Sanandaj.
According to the reports received by Hengaw, at least seven Kurdish women are now behind the bars in Iran for alleged political activities.
