Attacks Kill, Injure Over a Dozen in Southern Kirkuk
ERBIL — At least five people were killed and several others were injured in two separate attacks in Daquq district, south of Kirkuk province, officials confirmed.

Overnight on Saturday around midnight, a group of unidentified armed men opened fire at a group of young people at a small football pitch in central Daquq, killing and injuring several people.

Elsewhere in the town, a military base for Iraqi Shi’ite militias of Hashd al-Shaabi came under a rocket attack, which also resulted in fatalities.

Officials from Daquq hospital confirmed the admission of five killed and several others injured, among whom were civilians and Hahshd al-Shaabi militiamen.

No groups or organizations have yet claimed responsibility for the attack. However, the Islamic State (IS) is suspected to be involved as the group has recently carried out many more similar attacks in the region.
