Mass Graves of Kurds in South of Iraq to be Exhumed on Tuesday
ERBIL - At least three mass graves of Kurdish victims of the 1980s Anfal Campaign, which had been discovered in southern Iraq, will be exhumed on Tuesday, an official said.

A delegation from the Kurdistan Region's Ministry of Martyrs and Anfal Affairs will attend a ceremony to dig up the graves in the southern province of Musanna which contain about 500 bodies, including women and children, Fuad Taha, a spokesperson for the ministry, told BasNews.

During 1980s, Saddam Hussein’s Baath Regime massacred tens of thousands of Kurdish civilians, including women and children, most of whom were buried in mass graves in the southern and western deserts of the country.

Taha pointed out that they had previously agreed with the authorities of the province on a certain mechanism for exhuming the graves.
