ERBIL — At least three people, from the same family, were killed and injured in an IED blast in the rural areas of Jalawla, near Khanaqin of Diyala province in Iraq.

A local security official confirmed the report to BasNews and said the explosion had taken place in an agricultural area between Jalawla and Kalar.

The victims are from the same family, the official said. The father was killed and two of his sons are injured.

“They were attending their agricultural lands when the bomb went off in their vicinity,” he added.

No group or organization has claimed the responsibility, but the security officials blame the Islamic State (IS) as the group is increasing its terrorist activities in the region.
