ERBIL — Masrour Barzani, the Prime Minister-designate of Kurdistan Region, met with several Kurdish political parties in Sulaymaniyah on Monday to invite them to submit their ministerial candidates.

He kicked off the talks with a meeting where he discussed partnership in the next cabinet with the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK).

Accompanied by several senior KDP members, Barzani later met with Kurdistan Socialist Democratic Party and the Change Movement (Gorran).

His focus during the talks, according to media reports, remained on urging the sides to finalize their candidates before the end of Barzani’s legal timeline to submit his cabinet to the parliament.

In a tweet after the meetings, he described the talks as “important”.

“I urged the leaders to recognize the urgency of our shared task and join me in forming an inclusive government that delivers the legitimate needs of the Kurdistani peoples,” he wrote.
