ERBIL — Chancellor of Kurdistan Region Security Council Masrour Barzani congratulated Nechirvan Barzani on his inauguration as the new president of Kurdistan Region.

Barzani said in an online statement that he hopes the new presidency will serve the national interests of the people of Kurdistan in a joint effort.

He wished President Barzani success in his new post.

Nechirvan Barzani was sworn in on Monday during a parliamentary session and in the presence of a large number of political and religious leaders from Kurdistan, Iraq, and other countries.

He will name Masrour Barzani as the next Prime Minister of Kurdistan Region on Tuesday.
