Iraqi Parliament Speaker Received Death Threatening: MP
ERBIL — The speaker of the Iraqi parliament, Mohammed al-Halbousi, has received a death threatening from unknown senders, said an Iraqi lawmaker.

MP Mohammed Karbouli said the threatening message was for Halbousi’s planned mediation between the US and Iran for the de-escalation of tensions.

The MP said the letter has detailed the reasons. However, he did not elaborate, as reported by Kurdistan 24.

Karbouli said the pro-Iranian Shi’ite militia leaders are notified about the death threatening to the parliament speaker.

Halbousi was said to have been appointed by Iraqi prime minister to soon travel to Iran and propose Iraq’s mediation to ease the tensions between Tehran and Washington.

BasNews could not solely verify the report about the death threatening to the parliament speaker.
