France Calls for Continuation of Humanitarian Aid to Kurdistan
ERBIL - France has called on the humanitarian organizations to prolong their assistance to the Kurdistan Region as the autonomous region is still hosting a great number of IDPs and Syrian refugees that fled from the terror-affected areas since 2014.

The call was made by the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, after arriving in Erbil on Thursday where she met with the city’s Governor, Nawzad Hadi, for talks on a number of issues, including bilateral cooperation and the improvement of cultural ties between both sides, while signing a joint agreement, as reported by Kurdistan 24.

Hidalgo further revealed that the Council of Paris last week voted to allocate 100,000 euros to the children based in a camp in the Kurdistan Region's Duhok province who could not go to school.

Meanwhile, Hadi explained to reporters that during his visits to Paris in the past few years, he had met with Hidalgo and discussed the issues concerning public parks, waste disposal, and traffic congestion in hopes of transferring the experience to the Kurdistan Region.

The French mayor, however, was delighted to see you the Kurdistan Region is developing economically again after the war against the Islamic State (IS) has ended, saying that Erbil is determined to establish a brighter future.
