Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani has extended his congratulations to the Kurdistan Islamic Scholars Union on the 56th anniversary of its establishment, praising the role of religious scholars in the Kurdistan Region’s history and in promoting social peace.

In a message marking the anniversary, Barzani congratulated the president, leadership, Executive Office members, and all religious teachers and scholars of the Islamic faith in the Kurdistan Region, wishing them continued success.

Barzani highlighted the historical contributions of religious scholars and their union during the Kurdistan liberation struggle and revolution, noting their support for the Peshmerga and the people of Kurdistan.

He also paid tribute to religious scholars who were killed during the struggle, as well as to all martyrs of the Kurdistan freedom movement who, he said, made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.

“Religious teachers have always been a pillar in safeguarding human and national values,” Barzani said, emphasizing their role in promoting equality, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence among the different components of society.

He further praised their efforts to confront extremism and preserve social stability, reaffirming that the Kurdistan Region would remain a land of peaceful coexistence.
