The United States has carried out its first strikes on Iran in several weeks, targeting Iranian rocket launchers on Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz, according to reports.

The strikes mark a renewed escalation in the ongoing confrontation between the United States and Iran. The attack was the first reported US strike on Iranian positions in more than a month.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it responded by targeting Jordan, describing the action as retaliation for the US strikes. Iranian state-linked media also reported that the United Arab Emirates was targeted, although details of the reported attack were not immediately clear.

The developments have raised concerns about a wider regional escalation, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz, a strategically important waterway through which a significant portion of the world’s oil supply passes.
