Iran launched missile strikes on the headquarters of a Kurdish opposition party in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, on Tuesday, wounding two members of the party, according to officials.

The attack targeted the headquarters of a Kurdish opposition group in Erbil, marking the latest in a series of Iranian strikes against Iranian Kurdish opposition groups operating in or near the Kurdistan Region.

The strikes come days after Amjad Hussein, an official of the Kurdistan Toilers’ Party (Komala), said Iran had carried out drone attacks on positions belonging to Iranian Kurdish parties near Al-Sulaymaniyah. The Saturday strikes reportedly caused no casualties.

Iran has repeatedly targeted Iranian Kurdish opposition groups based in the Kurdistan Region, accusing them of conducting activities against the Islamic Republic from Iraqi territory. Kurdish opposition groups and authorities in the Kurdistan Region have previously called for an end to such attacks and emphasized the need to protect the region’s security and sovereignty.
