Kurdistan Region President Reaffirms Support for Iraq's Stability

Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani announced that he attended the State Administration Coalition meeting in Baghdad on Wednesday evening, where he joined the leaders of Iraq's four presidencies and the heads of major political blocs to discuss the country's political, security, and governance priorities.

According to President Barzani, the meeting focused on Iraq's overall situation and the challenges facing the country, while also reviewing recent regional and international developments and their implications for Iraq.

Participants reaffirmed their commitment to implementing the federal government's program, fulfilling constitutional and political commitments, and advancing national priorities. Discussions emphasized strengthening security and stability across the country while improving the quality of public services delivered to Iraqi citizens.

A key outcome of the meeting was renewed support for the implementation of the state's policy to restrict the possession of weapons exclusively to official state institutions. The leaders stressed that confining arms to the authority of the state is essential for reinforcing the rule of law and safeguarding Iraq's security and stability.

The meeting also underscored the importance of ensuring that Iraq remains a source of stability in the region and is not used as a launching point or arena for threats against neighboring countries or other states.

Kurdistan Region President said the participants expressed their full support for Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani and his government in carrying out its reform agenda and policies aimed at strengthening stability. They also pledged to work collectively with a spirit of shared national responsibility to address current challenges, protect Iraq's supreme national interests, and promote continued development and long-term stability.
