The U.S. Embassy in Amman has issued a security alert urging American citizens in Jordan and across the Middle East to exercise heightened caution, citing the increasingly volatile regional security environment amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran.

In the advisory released on Saturday, the embassy warned that the situation could deteriorate rapidly, potentially resulting in flight cancellations, temporary airspace closures, and broader travel disruptions. Americans in the region were advised to closely monitor airline updates and remain prepared to alter travel plans if conditions worsen.

"Americans currently in the Middle East should exercise caution and heightened vigilance and should be prepared for flight cancellations, periodic airspace closures, and potential travel disruptions," the embassy said.

The embassy also cautioned that U.S. diplomatic facilities, businesses, and institutions associated with the United States could face increased security risks.

According to the advisory, Iran and groups aligned with Tehran may target U.S. interests abroad, including American businesses and institutions, as regional tensions continue to rise.

For U.S. citizens residing in or visiting Jordan, the embassy recommended avoiding military installations, demonstrations, and large public gatherings. Travelers were also advised to maintain a low profile, follow the guidance of Jordanian authorities, and enroll in the U.S. State Department's Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive emergency notifications.

The advisory further noted that Iran has previously targeted civilian and critical infrastructure throughout the region, including airports, hotels, and other non-military facilities, emphasizing that Americans should remain vigilant regardless of whether previous attacks have occurred in their location.

The warning follows a sharp escalation in rhetoric from Tehran. Earlier on Saturday, Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters warned neighboring countries against supporting U.S. military operations.

Commander Ali Abdollahi accused Washington of relying on regional governments to bolster its military presence, stating that countries serving as a "defensive shield" for the United States could face severe consequences.

"The United States is utilizing their capital, wealth, critical infrastructure, and strategic resources as a defensive shield for its military presence," Abdollahi said.
He added:

"Any country that positions itself as a defensive shield for the United States will be consumed by the flames of war."

The remarks reflect Tehran's increasingly confrontational stance as both Washington and Iran continue exchanging strong public warnings following months of heightened tensions.

The embassy's alert underscores growing concerns that any further escalation between the United States and Iran could spread beyond the two countries, affecting neighboring states, regional security, international aviation, and critical infrastructure across the Middle East.
