Erbil, Kurdistan Region – Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani received Eoon-Gyo Shim, the newly appointed Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Erbil, to discuss ways to further strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and the Republic of Korea.

Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani congratulated Consul General Shim on his appointment and wished him success in his new diplomatic mission. He reaffirmed the Kurdistan Region's commitment to providing the necessary support and assistance through its relevant institutions to facilitate the Consulate General's work.

The Kurdistan Region President also expressed his appreciation for the Republic of Korea's continued support and reaffirmed the Kurdistan Region's desire to deepen relations with Seoul by expanding cooperation across a range of sectors.

For his part, Consul General Eoon-Gyo Shim thanked President Nechirvan Barzani for the warm welcome and praised his role in advancing relations between the Kurdistan Region and the Republic of Korea. He expressed his pleasure at assuming his post in Erbil and reaffirmed his commitment to further strengthening cooperation and friendship between the two sides.

The meeting highlighted the mutual commitment of the Kurdistan Region and the Republic of Korea to further enhancing their partnership and exploring new opportunities for collaboration.
