Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani received Italy's Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Niccolò Fontana, along with his accompanying delegation, to discuss bilateral relations, regional developments, and issues of mutual interest.

During the meeting, President Nechirvan Barzani expressed his appreciation to the President, Government, and people of Italy for awarding him the Order of the Star of Italy, describing the honour as a symbol of the sincere friendship between Italy and the Kurdistan Region and an important step toward further strengthening bilateral relations.

The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing relations between Italy, Iraq, and the Kurdistan Region, while exchanging views on expanding cooperation across a wide range of fields.

The meeting also covered the internal situation in the Kurdistan Region, President Nechirvan Barzani's visit to Iran last week and his meetings in Tehran, as well as the latest regional developments and a number of issues of mutual interest.

Italy's Consul General in the Kurdistan Region also attended the meeting.
