Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani hosted the French Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Patrick Durel, for a farewell meeting to mark the official conclusion of the diplomat’s tenure in the country.

During the meeting, Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani expressed his sincere appreciation to Ambassador Durel for his dedicated diplomatic efforts during his time in office. The President lauded his contributions to fostering and strengthening the historical ties connecting France with both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, and extended his warmest wishes for the Ambassador's success in his future endeavors.

In response, Ambassador Durel expressed his gratitude to Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani and the relevant regional authorities for their unwavering support and close cooperation throughout his diplomatic mission. The outgoing Ambassador reaffirmed France’s enduring commitment to expanding collaboration and deepening partnership across various fields with both Baghdad and Erbil.

The high-level meeting was also attended by Mr. Yann Braem, the French Consul General to the Kurdistan Region.
