PM Masrour Barzani Orders Promotion of 682 Interior Ministry Officers Across Kurdistan Region
Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani has issued an official order promoting 682 officers serving in the Ministry of Interior’s internal security forces to the next rank in their careers, according to a government directive released by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers’ Diwan.
The administrative order, signed by Diwan head Omid Sabah, confirms that the promotions are based on Regional Order No. 142, issued on June 28, 2026.
According to the directive, the promotions apply to officers listed in an attached official roster, beginning with Colonel Omar Farouq Abdulaziz Mohammed and concluding with Lieutenant Kiwan Omar Arif Ali. Each eligible officer has been granted the rank specified alongside their name in the official list.
The government stated that the promotions were implemented in accordance with Article 10 of the Federal Internal Security Forces Service and Retirement Law No. 18 of 2011, which is applied in the Kurdistan Region, and cover officers serving within the organizational structure of the Ministry of Interior.
In addition to the rank promotions, the administrative order approved the recognition of an extra year of service for a number of eligible officers. The measure, described as bridging a time-service shortfall, enables those officers to meet the required service period for promotion to the next rank.
