Syria Integrates 38,000 Teachers and 2,350 Schools in Hasaka into National Education System

Syria's Minister of Education, Mohammed Turko, announced that efforts to integrate the education system in Hasaka province into the country's national framework are advancing steadily, with nearly 38,000 teachers and more than 2,300 schools already incorporated into the process.

Speaking to Syria's state news agency SANA, Turko said the government's plan to unify the education system across eastern Syria, including Hasaka and surrounding areas, is being implemented successfully as part of a broader effort to establish a single national curriculum and ensure stability in the education sector.

According to the minister, approximately 38,000 teachers who previously worked under institutions affiliated with the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES) have been integrated into Syria's national education system.

Turko also revealed that 2,350 schools have reopened and have been teaching the official Syrian government curriculum since the start of the second semester of the current academic year.

The minister highlighted Resolution No. 1617, describing it as a key measure designed to protect students' rights during the transition period. Under the resolution, students who studied under the DAANES curriculum will be permitted to sit for national examinations, including primary and secondary certificate exams, during the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 academic years using the curriculum they previously followed.

In addition, the Ministry of Education has introduced procedures to recognize certificates issued by DAANES-affiliated educational institutions in accordance with Syrian laws and regulations.

Turko emphasized that the integration process is being carried out gradually to avoid disrupting students' academic progress.

"This process is being implemented step by step to ensure that students are not adversely affected," he said.

The minister stressed the importance of education in fostering national unity and rebuilding the country.

"Education will be the most important bridge that brings together the children of the country and will play a key role in building both people and the future," Turko said.
