Several Syrian Soldiers Injured in Ambush on Military Bus in Hasakah Countryside
Several Syrian military personnel were injured early Thursday when unidentified armed attackers ambushed a military bus in the countryside of Hasakah province in northeastern Syria, according to local media reports.
The bus, belonging to Syria’s Ministry of Defense, was traveling along the road connecting the towns of Tal Tamr and Ras al-Ayn while transporting military personnel when it came under attack. Gunmen reportedly opened fire on the vehicle before fleeing the area.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the exact number of casualties, and neither the Ministry of Defense nor other government agencies have issued a detailed statement regarding the incident. Security forces have launched an investigation and are pursuing those responsible for the attack.
The ambush comes amid a renewed wave of violence across northern and eastern Syria, where military convoys, checkpoints, and security installations have increasingly been targeted in recent months.
Just days earlier, the city of Raqqa witnessed a separate deadly attack when armed militants stormed a public security headquarters. Syria’s Interior Ministry said the assailants used gunfire and grenades before detonating a suicide bomb inside the facility, killing at least one security officer and wounding several others.
The provinces of Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor, and Hasakah continue to experience persistent security challenges, with many attacks attributed to ISIS cells operating in remote desert areas and exploiting fragmented security control in the region.
