Kurdistan Oil Production to Resume Next Week

Oil production from the Kurdistan Region’s fields is expected to resume next week with an initial output of more than 200,000 barrels per day, according to Iraqi lawmaker Sherwan Dubardani.

Dubardani said Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi has provided security assurances to oil companies operating in the Kurdistan Region, following an agreement between Baghdad and Erbil to protect energy infrastructure and personnel.

The restart comes after more than two years of disrupted exports through the Iraq-Turkey pipeline, which were halted in March 2023. Officials hope the resumption of production will boost revenues, improve investor confidence, and strengthen cooperation between Baghdad and Erbil.
