Iraq Parliament to Vote on Completing Cabinet After July 1

Iraq's parliament is expected to vote on filling the remaining nine vacant cabinet positions after its legislative recess ends on July 1, according to Kurdish lawmaker Sirwa Mohammed.

Mohammed said preparations to complete Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi's government have been finalized, with lawmakers awaiting parliament's return to hold the vote.

He noted that both domestic and international pressure is mounting to finalize the cabinet and strengthen government stability. Mohammed also said legal complaints from unsuccessful ministerial candidates are unlikely to affect the process.

On the 2026 federal budget, she said parliament is unlikely to pass a full budget law this year, adding that the government is expected to submit spending and salary allocations for parliamentary review instead.

Mohammed further revealed that parliamentary committee memberships have been completed, while committee chairpersons will likely be appointed alongside the completion of the cabinet formation process.
