Trump Predicts Imminent US-Iran Peace Deal as Tehran Casts Doubt; Israeli Strikes Continue in Lebanon

U.S. President Donald Trump has suggested that an initial peace agreement between the United States and Iran could be signed as early as Sunday, raising hopes for a diplomatic breakthrough amid heightened regional tensions.

Speaking on the prospects of negotiations, Trump said he expected an interim deal to be finalized within days. Echoing that optimism, Shehbaz Sharif stated on Saturday that he anticipated the agreement would be finalized within the next 24 hours.

However, Iranian officials have cast doubt on the proposed timeline. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps denied reports that a signing ceremony was planned for Sunday, signaling that significant differences may remain despite ongoing diplomatic efforts.

The uncertainty surrounding the negotiations comes as regional security concerns persist. Meanwhile, Israel has continued airstrikes targeting positions in southern Lebanon, maintaining military pressure along its northern border amid ongoing tensions with armed groups operating in the area.
