Trump Urges Immediate Israel-Iran Ceasefire, Says Final Peace Talks Underway
U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday issued two urgent messages on Truth Social, calling on Israel and Iran to immediately halt hostilities while confirming that final negotiations aimed at securing a peace agreement are currently underway.
In his first post, Trump delivered a direct appeal for an immediate end to the fighting.
"Israel and Iran must immediately stop 'shooting,'" he wrote, signing the message as "President Donald J. Trump."
The statement came amid escalating military exchanges between the two countries. Iranian ballistic missiles reportedly struck targets in and around Tel Aviv, while Israeli warplanes carried out strikes against military facilities in western and central Iran, marking one of the most serious confrontations since the collapse of the ceasefire that had been in place since April.
In a second Truth Social post, Trump indicated that diplomatic efforts were advancing and that both governments were seeking an immediate cessation of hostilities.
"Both sides, Israel and Iran, are looking to do an immediate ceasefire," Trump wrote. "Final negotiations on 'Peace' are proceeding, subject to ignorance or stupidity getting in its way."
The U.S. president also stated that the American blockade of the Strait of Hormuz would remain fully operational until a comprehensive agreement is finalized.
"The U.S. blockade will remain in place and in full force until a final deal is reached," Trump said, adding, "Things should move quickly."
The remarks suggest growing diplomatic momentum toward ending the latest round of conflict between Israel and Iran, although fighting continued on Monday as negotiators worked to secure a formal ceasefire and broader peace arrangement.
Officials from both countries have not yet publicly commented on Trump's latest statements or provided details regarding the status of the negotiations.
