U.S. Forces Shoot Down Two Iranian Drones Near Strait of Hormuz
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that U.S. forces in the Middle East shot down two Iranian one-way attack drones earlier today after determining that they posed a threat to international maritime navigation in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
According to a statement posted by CENTCOM on X, the drones were intercepted and destroyed to protect the safety and security of commercial shipping and maritime traffic in the region.
The Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most critical shipping routes, serves as a key passage for global energy supplies and international trade. Any threat to navigation in the waterway is closely monitored by regional and international military forces.
CENTCOM stated that U.S. forces remain on high alert and are prepared to respond to what it described as Iranian aggression. The command emphasized its commitment to maintaining freedom of navigation and safeguarding international maritime security in the region.
