Pakistan’s Interior Minister to Visit Iran for Talks on US–Iran Mediation Efforts

Pakistan’s Interior Minister to Visit Iran for Talks on US–Iran Mediation Efforts

Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is set to visit Iran on Saturday to discuss what officials described as “new proposals” aimed at advancing Pakistan-mediated diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran, according to Pakistani sources cited by Anadolu.

During the visit, Naqvi is expected to meet senior Iranian leadership to explore ways to break the current diplomatic deadlock and work toward a possible temporary agreement between the United States and Iran, the sources in Islamabad said.

The Pakistani minister is also expected to discuss the possibility of reviving a second round of negotiations between the two sides in an effort to reduce tensions and move toward ending the ongoing conflict, which reportedly began on February 28.

Iran’s semi-official Mehr news agency also confirmed the planned visit, stating that Naqvi will hold talks in Tehran as part of broader diplomatic engagement amid Pakistan’s continued mediation role.

The upcoming visit follows Naqvi’s meeting with Iran’s Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni on Friday in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, where both officials attended a Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) interior ministers’ meeting.
