President of the Kurdistan Region Calls for Collective Action to Protect the Environment on World Environment Day
On the occasion of World Environment Day, the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, extended his greetings and appreciation to environmental activists, organizations, and stakeholders across the Kurdistan Region for their efforts in protecting the country's natural environment.
In a statement released on Thursday, the President praised the dedication of individuals and institutions working to preserve the Kurdistan Region’s rich natural heritage and emphasized the importance of environmental protection in the face of growing climate challenges.
The President stressed that safeguarding the environment and addressing the impacts of climate change are not solely government responsibilities but represent a national and humanitarian duty shared by all members of society. He called for greater cooperation among schools, families, media outlets, and public institutions to promote environmental awareness and foster a culture of environmental stewardship.
The statement also reaffirmed the Kurdistan Region’s commitment to working closely with the Federal Government of Iraq and the international community to implement necessary measures aimed at protecting natural resources, preserving biodiversity, and ensuring a healthy environment for future generations.
