US House Rebukes Trump on Iran War as Middle East Tensions Persist

The U.S. House of Representatives has voted to curb President Donald Trump’s military action in Iran, delivering a significant political setback as opposition to the conflict grows in Congress. Lawmakers approved a war powers resolution by a 215–208 vote, with four Republicans joining Democrats in support of ending U.S. hostilities unless authorized by Congress. Democrats described the measure as a “loud” message to end what they called a “deeply unpopular” war.

The vote came amid renewed instability across the Middle East. In Kuwait, a drone strike hit a passenger terminal at Kuwait International Airport, killing one person and injuring dozens. The attack forced a temporary suspension of flights and marked one of the most serious spillovers of the Iran-related conflict into the Gulf region.

Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts produced a breakthrough on Israel’s northern border, with Israel and Lebanon agreeing to a new ceasefire aimed at halting months of cross-border fighting. The U.S.-brokered deal calls for an end to hostilities and the withdrawal of armed groups from southern Lebanon, though uncertainty remains over its implementation.

Despite the ceasefire announcement, violence continued elsewhere in the region. Israeli strikes in Gaza reportedly killed at least nine people, underscoring the fragile security situation as multiple conflicts continue simultaneously.
