Masrour Barzani began an official visit to Baghdad, holding a series of high-level meetings with senior Iraqi leaders focused on strengthening cooperation between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the federal government, resolving outstanding disputes, and reinforcing constitutional principles.

During his first meeting, Prime Minister Barzani met with Ali Falih Al-Zaidi and congratulated him on assuming office. Barzani reaffirmed the Kurdistan Regional Government’s support for the success of the federal administration in serving all Iraqi citizens and communities without discrimination.

The Kurdish Prime Minister stressed the importance of fundamentally resolving long-standing issues between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad on the basis of the Iraqi Constitution and with full respect for the federal status of the Kurdistan Region.

For his part, Prime Minister Al-Zaidi welcomed Barzani’s visit and emphasized that all Iraqis are partners in the country, sharing a common goal of reaching agreements, resolving disputes, and serving citizens from all components equally.

Both sides agreed on the need to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the federal government and the KRG to address challenges and overcome differences through dialogue and constitutional mechanisms.

In a separate meeting, Prime Minister Barzani held talks with Haibat Al-Halbousi. The two leaders highlighted the important role of the Iraqi Council of Representatives as a key legislative institution representing all components of Iraqi society and addressing national issues.

They also underlined the importance of resolving outstanding disputes between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government in accordance with the Constitution. Discussions further focused on the need to prepare and pass national legislation aimed at protecting the rights of all communities while preserving Iraq’s federal system and the constitutional status of the Kurdistan Region.

Continuing his engagements in Baghdad, Prime Minister Barzani also met with Faiq Zaidan, President of the Supreme Judicial Council of Iraq.
