Ten Suspected ISIS Members Arrested in Joint Türkiye-Syria Operation

Ten Turkish citizens accused of being members of ISIS have been arrested in Syria during a joint intelligence operation conducted by Turkish and Syrian authorities, Turkish state media reported on Saturday.

According to the reports, the suspects were wanted under international Red Notices issued by Interpol. Turkish intelligence services worked alongside Syrian counterparts to carry out the operation, though officials did not disclose the exact location or timing of the arrests.

State news agency Anadolu and broadcaster TRT said nine of the suspects had already been returned to Türkiye.

Authorities allege that one of the detainees had links to the perpetrators of the 2015 Ankara railway station bombing, one of the deadliest attacks in Türkiye’s history, which killed more than 100 people and injured hundreds more.

Two other suspects are accused of planning or taking part in attacks targeting Turkish soldiers stationed in northern Syria.

Turkish state media reported that all 10 individuals are believed to have joined ISIS between 2014 and 2017.
