Asim Munir Heads to Iran Amid Rising Tensions as Pakistan Seeks Mediation Role

Pakistani army chief and Field Marshal Asim Munir is expected to visit Iran in what Iranian media describe as a mediation effort aimed at easing tensions between Tehran and the United States amid the ongoing Middle East crisis.

The planned visit comes as Tehran confirmed it is reviewing Washington’s latest proposals intended to end the current conflict. Iranian officials said discussions are ongoing following recent remarks by Donald Trump, who stated that he was prepared to wait “a few days” in order to receive “the right answers” from Iran regarding a possible settlement.

Diplomatic observers view Pakistan’s involvement as an attempt to reduce regional instability and prevent further escalation. Islamabad has traditionally maintained relations with both Tehran and Washington, positioning itself as a potential intermediary during periods of heightened tension.

Meanwhile, concerns over human rights in Iran continue to grow. Iranian authorities have reportedly executed two more men in a continuing wave of hangings taking place during the regional conflict. International organizations and rights groups have expressed alarm over the increasing number of executions carried out amid the wartime atmosphere.
