Over 800,000 public sector beneficiaries receive bank cards under MyAccount
The KRG Ministry of Finance and Economy is pleased to announce that more than 800,000 public sector beneficiaries have now received bank cards through the KRG’s financial inclusion programme, MyAccount.
The MyAccount initiative was announced by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani in 2023 as part of the ninth cabinet’s agenda to increase financial inclusion and improve access to retail banking. To date, over 900,000 public sector beneficiaries have registered for bank accounts through the programme.
As part of the initiative, citizens receive direct notifications regarding registration, card delivery and payments. Participating banks have also installed more than 600 new ATMs across the Kurdistan Region, improving access to cash withdrawals and reducing waiting times.
The KRG expects the number of ATMs to exceed 1,000 by the end of the programme, in line with Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) regulations.
