Kurdistan Region President Meets Italian President in Rome to Strengthen Bilateral Relations
Italian President Sergio Mattarella formally welcomed Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani during an official visit to Italy, where both leaders discussed ways to deepen cooperation between Italy, Iraq, and the Kurdistan Region across multiple sectors.
During the meeting, President of the Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani expressed appreciation for Italy’s ongoing political, humanitarian, and developmental support to both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. He also commended the role of the Italian military in supporting efforts against terrorism in the region.
President Sergio Mattarella welcomed the visit and reiterated Italy’s commitment to supporting peace, stability, and development in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. He further praised the Kurdistan Region’s role in promoting coexistence among different ethnic and religious communities.
The two sides also exchanged views on the latest developments in the Middle East, stressing the importance of preserving regional peace and stability amid ongoing challenges.
