US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping have begun high-level talks in Beijing, marking the first visit by a US president to China since 2017.

Xi Jinping welcomed Trump with an elaborate official ceremony, emphasizing the importance of stability in bilateral relations and calling for both countries to act as “partners, not rivals.” Trump responded in a similarly cordial tone during the opening moments of the meeting.
