US Warns of “Devastating” Response if Ships Are Attacked in Strait of Hormuz

The United States military has reiterated its commitment to protect commercial shipping in the strategic Strait of Hormuz, warning that any Iranian attacks on vessels will be met with what officials described as a “devastating” response.

US officials stressed, however, that the current ceasefire situation remains in place, and that Washington is not considering the truce to be over despite rising tensions in the region.

The warning comes amid heightened regional instability following reports of an attack on the Fujairah oil infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates. World leaders have condemned the incident, calling for restraint and de-escalation.

Iran, for its part, has neither confirmed nor denied responsibility for the reported strike. However, Iran’s lead nuclear and political negotiator earlier stated that the country is prepared for a prolonged standoff in the Strait of Hormuz if tensions continue to escalate.

The United States Department of Defense emphasized that while diplomatic channels remain open and the ceasefire is technically intact, any further aggression against commercial shipping will trigger a forceful response aimed at protecting international maritime security.
