Nechirvan Barzani, the President of the Kurdistan Region, extended his heartfelt congratulations to journalists and media professionals across the Kurdistan Region on the 128th anniversary of the publication of the historic Kurdistan newspaper and the 28th anniversary of the Kurdistan Journalists Syndicate.

In a statement marking the occasion, the President of the Kurdistan Region emphasized the importance of press freedom and freedom of expression as fundamental pillars of democracy and the development of a vibrant civil society.

He reaffirmed the Kurdistan Region’s commitment to protecting these freedoms and supporting the work of journalists. According to the statement, efforts will continue to ensure a suitable and free environment for media work, safeguard journalists’ rights, and guarantee access to information.

The President of the Kurdistan Region also highlighted the crucial role of responsible journalism in strengthening good governance and justice. He called on journalists to uphold the public interest, maintain social harmony, and carry out their professional duties with integrity and responsibility.

Furthermore, he encouraged media professionals to promote a culture of coexistence, mutual respect, tolerance, and patriotism, contributing to unity and positive values within society.
