Benjamin Netanyahu: Confrontation with Iran Could Escalate at Any Moment

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the confrontation with Iran remains ongoing and could escalate at any moment, highlighting continued tensions despite diplomatic efforts to ease the conflict.

Speaking during a meeting with Javier Milei in Jerusalem, Netanyahu said, “We are at war with Iran. The issue is not over, and at any moment new developments could occur.”

He stressed that from Israel’s perspective the conflict remains active, with no clear or defined endpoint.

His remarks come as a new round of talks between senior delegations from Iran and the United States is expected to take place this week in Islamabad, amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions.

The current conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran began on February 28, following large-scale airstrikes by Washington and Tel Aviv targeting military and political sites in Tehran and other Iranian cities.

The strikes caused significant damage to infrastructure and resulted in thousands of casualties.

In response, Iran launched multiple missile attacks on American and Israeli interests across the region and temporarily closed the Strait of Hormuz to commercial shipping, disrupting global energy markets and international trade.

The escalation prompted several regional countries to push for mediation.

On April 8, a temporary two-week ceasefire was announced through direct mediation by Pakistan.
