Dana Gas Resumes Production at Khor Mor Gas Field After Weeks of Disruption

Dana Gas has announced the resumption of production at the Khor Mor Gas Field after weeks of intermittent operations caused by regional instability.

In a formal disclosure issued from Sharjah in accordance with the transparency regulations of the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange, the Dana Gas confirmed that output at the facility has resumed following a period of disruption.

The company stated that it had adopted “prudent operational procedures” during the period of instability, emphasizing that the safety of personnel and protection of infrastructure remained its top priority throughout the disruptions.

The Khor Mor gas field is one of the most strategically important energy assets in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The field supplies natural gas to several electricity generation plants across the region, making it a critical component of the region’s energy infrastructure. Any interruption in its output has immediate effects on electricity production, industrial operations, and broader economic stability.

Operations at the site were significantly affected by the regional conflict that erupted on Feb. 28, commonly referred to as the U.S.-Israel-Iran war, which lasted for more than a month and raised security concerns across major energy corridors in the region.

The escalation increased the risks facing vital infrastructure, including gas and oil facilities, leading to operational slowdowns and precautionary shutdowns at Khor Mor amid fears of possible attacks and spillover violence.

During the conflict, energy companies operating in the Kurdistan Region faced multiple challenges, including supply chain disruptions, heightened security measures, and continuous coordination with regional authorities to maintain operations under volatile conditions.

Dana Gas said it worked closely with the Kurdistan Regional Government during the crisis, highlighting a coordinated effort to manage risks and protect key energy facilities.

The resumption of production indicates a degree of stabilization in the immediate security environment. However, analysts warn that the wider geopolitical situation remains fragile.

The Khor Mor facility has been targeted in previous periods of heightened tension, making it a central focus in discussions about energy security in both the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
