President of Kurdistan Region Holds Phone Call with Ahmed al-Sharaa on Regional Security and Peace Efforts
President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, received a phone call on Monday evening from the President of Syria, Ahmed al-Sharaa, during which the two leaders discussed the evolving regional situation and the consequences of the ongoing war.
According to information released after the call, both leaders exchanged views on recent regional developments and the wider repercussions of the conflict. They stressed the importance of strengthening diplomatic efforts in order to halt the war and reach a peaceful resolution.
The conversation also focused on maintaining peace and stability in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq. In this context, President al-Sharaa strongly condemned recent attacks targeting the Kurdistan Region.
During the call, the two sides further discussed the situation of the Kurds and other communities in Syria, as well as relations between Syria and Iraq and a number of other issues of mutual concern.
Both leaders reaffirmed the importance of dialogue and diplomatic engagement to address regional challenges and promote long-term stability.
