U.S. Airman Rescued After Iran Downs F-15E
A U.S. airman who went missing after Iran shot down an American fighter jet has been rescued following an intense search operation, according to U.S. officials.
The airman was flying an F-15E Strike Eagle when the aircraft was reportedly downed by Iranian forces on Friday. After a frantic search and rescue effort, U.S. officials confirmed that the service member has been located and recovered.
U.S. President Donald Trump said the airman sustained injuries during the incident but is expected to recover. “He will be just fine,” Trump said, adding that the pilot survived the ordeal despite the crash and hostile conditions.
Iran claimed responsibility for shooting down what it described as an “enemy aircraft” during the rescue operation. Tehran has continued its military campaign in the Gulf, with reports indicating strikes on a government ministry and an oil facility in Kuwait.
The escalating tensions have also affected neighboring states. Falling debris from the conflict reportedly sparked a fire at a petrochemicals facility in the United Arab Emirates, raising concerns about the wider impact of the confrontation.
Meanwhile, Iran has rejected an ultimatum issued by President Trump demanding a deal to reopen the vital Strait of Hormuz shipping route. Trump warned that Tehran would face “hell” if it failed to comply, but Iranian officials dismissed the threat and signaled that operations in the Gulf would continue.
