Trump Issues 48-Hour Ultimatum to Iran

Donald Trump on Saturday issued a renewed warning to Iran, stating that Tehran has 48 hours to reach an agreement to end the escalating conflict or face what he described as serious consequences. The statement comes as military tensions across the Middle East continue to intensify.

In a message posted on Truth Social, Trump reiterated an earlier ultimatum directed at the Iranian leadership, emphasizing the urgency of reaching a diplomatic resolution.

“Do you remember when I gave Iran ten days to reach an agreement or open the Strait of Hormuz? Time is running out—48 hours remain before hell breaks loose,” he wrote.

The warning coincides with ongoing U.S. and Israeli airstrikes targeting Iranian-linked facilities. On Saturday, strikes were reported near the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, a significant component of Iran’s civilian nuclear energy infrastructure along the Persian Gulf.

The development has raised international concerns regarding nuclear safety.

Abbas Araghchi strongly condemned the strikes and warned against any direct attack on the facility, cautioning that such an action could lead to radioactive contamination with potentially severe environmental and public health consequences for neighboring Gulf states.

In a parallel development, reports emerged that a U.S. military aircraft crashed within Iranian territory on Friday. Two pilots are believed to have ejected before the crash.

According to officials, U.S. special operations forces successfully rescued one crew member, while search efforts continue to locate the second pilot. The operation is unfolding amid heightened military alert in the region.

Strategic Importance of the Strait of Hormuz
The crisis is further complicated by the status of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical routes for global oil transportation.

Trump had previously set April 6 as the deadline for Iran to reopen the waterway. The strait has remained effectively closed since the beginning of the U.S.–Israeli military campaign against Iran on February 28, increasing pressure on global energy markets and maritime trade.

U.S. officials have indicated that failure to reopen the strait and reduce hostilities could prompt direct strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure, raising the prospect of a broader conflict.
