On April 4, President Barzani issued a message marking the anniversary of the genocide against the Feyli Kurds, describing the day as one of the saddest moments in the history of the people of Kurdistan.

In his statement, president Barzani said that April 4 symbolizes the suffering of Feyli Kurdish men and women who were subjected to persecution, massacres, and injustice because of their Kurdish identity. He noted that during the rule of the former Iraqi regime, Feyli Kurds endured severe oppression, including the loss of basic civil rights, the confiscation of identity documents, and the forced deportation of tens of thousands of families.

President Barzani also highlighted that thousands of young Feyli Kurds were martyred during that period, describing these actions as part of systematic and inhumane policies carried out by the former regime against the people of Kurdistan.

Marking the 46th anniversary of the tragedy, Barzani paid tribute to the souls of the Feyli Kurdish martyrs and all the martyrs of Kurdistan. He stressed that it is the responsibility of the Iraqi state to ensure justice and provide fair compensation to the Feyli Kurds for the suffering and hardships they endured.

President Barzani further praised the historic role played by Feyli Kurds in supporting the Kurdish liberation movement, emphasizing that the Feyli Kurds will always remain an integral and respected part of the social and national fabric of the people of Kurdistan.
